16. And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.
17. And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?
18. And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:
19. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
20. Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
21. He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.
22. God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.
23. Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
24. Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

KEY VERSE:_*”And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus” (NUMBERS 23:16).*_The potency of the word of God has often been compared to the force released by the blast of an atomic bomb. The explosive contraption weighs less than 500kg. Yet when unleashed, it flattens entire cities and pulverises infrastructure with tens of thousands of weight. Its length is only about ten feet, but it brings down skyscrapers and puts out of action dams, power towers, the best laid-out roads and the most ornate residential and industrial structures.
Often, the word of God comes in a short sentence. But it carries more sway than the atomic device. The bomb is only destructive, not constructive. But when the Lord makes a declaration, it is to point the way to His perfect will and to give a glimpse into the future. So, when “the Lord… put a word in his (Balaam’s) mouth”, it was a release of prophecy, promise and precaution. What the Bible called “word” turned out to be a peep into the glorious future of Israel and an assurance from the Lord that believers should not tremble at so-called curses from false prophets.
God is also revealed as the One who would not lie concerning the promises He has made that His people shall be great as long as they continue to follow Him and shun sin. The blessing He has given those redeemed by His Son is not subject to any meddling or reversal by Satan or his demonic or human agents.
The power in the word of God surpasses all man-made machinations. The Lord gave us His word as a tool to conquer the world and its depravity. Our Lord Jesus employed the written Word to thrash the devil and his temptations. He expects us to do likewise.

*MEDITATION*
*1. The desperately wicked*
a. Balak was desperate to see Israel cursed as could be noticed in how he, with his people, stood tight with the evil offering, v17.
b. In the same way there are many foes (or friends), visible and invisible, who are desperately looking for the downfall of saints, 2 Corinthians 10:4-6. Be watchful🤷♂️
c. The heart of the natural man, no matter how religious and friendly, is desperately wicked and unreliable. It is helplessly “accustomed to doing evil” except the heart is transformed by Jesus Christ, Jeremiah 17:9.

Is your heart freed and transformed from all forms of wickedness?🤷♂️
*2. The divine word*
a. Curses are pronounced evil words and we use the words of confession to fight words of curses, v16. Confess the word of God with your mouth against all evil pronouncements.
b. The character of God is shown in v19. God is not a man and man cannot be God.
*Question*
What are the differences you can infer between God and man in v19?
c. The word of curses is totally and absolutely impotent before the activated faith and confessed word of God, vv19,20. While the word of man is reversible by the word of God, the word of God is irreversible by man. Do you believe this?
*3. The dutiful wisdom*
a. Man’s wisdom in activating the potency of the spoken and written word of God is shown by separation from all iniquities and spiritual perversions, v21.
b. This total separation from all uncleanness makes all forms of enchantment and divination void and of no effect against a child of God👏. Moral uncleanness are magnets of curses.
*Prayer points*
Ask for watchfulness, power and protection that will make you invincible to the desperately wicked🙏
Ask for the strong faith that will always confess and stand by the unfailing word of God at all times🙏
Pray that all moral uncleanness will be searched out and expunged from your life🙏
Ask that the faith of the brethren will be rooted and strong in the word of God🙏
