</div><div>Genesis 3:1-7</div><div>[1]Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?</div><div>[2]And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:</div><div>[3]But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.</div><div>[4]And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:</div><div>[5]For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.</div><div>[6]And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.</div><div>[7]And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.</div><div>
</div><div>🔑📖KEY VERSE:_*”Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (GENESIS 3:1).*_</div><div>
</div><div>A prominent personality once declared that if he had to choose between a pilot who had survived an air crash and one who had not, he would prefer the former. Why? He said the experienced airman, not being a stranger to the air, could be trusted to take care for his passengers and glide them safely through the skies to avoid straying into troubled storms.</div><div>
</div><div>Adam and Eve had had the grand privilege of knowing the Lord as a loving Father who not only created them, but also offered them limitless opportunities in a correspondingly unlimited vast territory, where they could freely eat of every tree of the garden except the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden. God has a known Personality whose generosity and large heartedness they had enjoyed. But when it came to deciding who to obey and trust, the duo sided with a total stranger, the devil.</div><div>
</div><div>They fell for his weapons of guile and subtlety, which made them believe that God could be wilfully disobeyed without severe consequences. They forsook the tested Lord and went into the kingdom of untried Satan. Their rash act plunged humanity into the torment of sin still ravaging man. They knew the commandment of God but went on to break it the same way many who know His word reject Him to experiment with the strange teachings given to them.</div><div>
</div><div>God’s standards have not changed. Adam and Eve lost fellowship with God and they were cut off from the Source of life. Those living in sin flout heaven’s laws and are dead spiritually, awaiting their final destination in hell if they do not seek salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.</div><div>

</div><div>*Have we learnt our lessons now?*🤷♂️</div><div>
</div><div>*1. Doubt creating questions*</div><div>a. At this time, all animals were not rapacious but friendly. This serpent, speaking the language of Eve, subtly showed interest in the supposed self deprivation or self denial of Eve and threw a question that will cast doubts on what God has said and His goodness, v1.</div><div>The world, the demons and their agents also come in a friendly way, speak the language you will like, show concern about your plight and cast doubts on what God has said and His goodness. Perhaps this has been working against your life🤔</div><div>
</div><div>*2. Developing conversation with skeptics*</div><div>The woman thought she could intelligently reason with someone who is far wiser, more experienced, more intelligent and subtle, v2,3. </div><div>There are some people, thoughts and events you must avoid and run away from without yielding to the lure of friendly conversation. Learn to “flee”. Are you overconfident on your ability and intelligence? For example, women like talking and the devil successfully exploited that. The enemy will always exploit your interest, such as gifts, pleasure, making friend, food, etc. Beware🏃♂️🏃♂️</div><div>
</div><div>*3. Deceptive contradictions and quibbles*</div><div>God said, “thou shalt surely die” (2:17), Satan said “Ye shall not surely die” v4. Notice the repetition of the word “surely”. What can you learn from this? Both were contradictory and were very “sure”. Both cannot be true at the same time. One of them must know the truth but deliberately deceptive. Confidence of others in their assertions does not necessarily mean truthfulness. The choice is always yours and the consequences are always certain👌</div><div>
</div><div>*4. Downloading corruption against Christ*</div><div>Can you see how the old serpent was corrupting the character and simplicity of God and His commandments as if God is the wicked one? Satan will always like to download falsehood into your minds against the “simplicity of Christ” and tell you that God is harsh, heartless and hard, v5, 2 Corinthians 11:3. Beware🤔</div><div>
</div><div>*5. Deliberately concentrating on questionable issues.*</div><div>Eve gave attention, concentration and time to what her friendly foe said and she was successfully deceived to just make a trial and fun of disobedience to see how it will look like, v6.</div><div>Trial, testing, testing❎❎Never make a trial or test of disobedience. The deadly effect of the fun may be eternally irreparable and irreversible. Ask Adam and Eve🤔</div><div>
</div><div>*6. Decisions that are costly but appears qualitative*</div><div>Confronted by the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life, it appeared “good”, “pleasant” and “desirable”, v6, I John 2:15-17. There is no successful temptation that will not pass through either of these gates. Doing something just because it is good, pleasant or desirable may be a sure way to eternal perdition. So be wise in your choices👌</div><div>
</div><div>*7. Destitute, corrupted and qualms*</div><div>They were not physically blind for they could see the serpent. This new sight is spiritual. Their eyes were opened to their shame after a taste of forbidden knowledge. Depressed with the eternal gravity of their sin, they lost God, were cursed and transfered the curse to generations that followed, v7. Falling into temptation may be costly than what the tempted can ever imagined. The best is to resist and flee by prayer and abstinence.</div><div>
</div><div>*Prayer points*</div><div>Generate four or more prayer points from your meditation and pray earnestly on each of them.</div><div>Pray that the Sunday service will be a blessed service to all🙏</div><div>
