<div>POSSESS YOUR POSSESSION</div><div>TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 1:1-8</div><div>KEY VERSE: “Behold, I have set the land before you: go</div><div>in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your</div><div>fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to</div><div>their seed after them” (DEUTERONOMY 1:8).</div><div>Sometimes, human beings need constant reminder and</div><div>encouragement to arise and possess what rightly belongs to</div><div>them. Such reminders and encouragements drive away fear</div><div>and give courage to move forward to possess the possession.</div><div>God, the owner and ruler of heaven and earth made a</div><div>promise, not only to Abraham, but also to his descendants to</div><div>give them the land of Canaan for a possession. Abraham was</div><div>therefore expected to leave where he was and go for the</div><div>possession.</div><div>This Bible text forms part of the parting message of Moses,</div><div>Israel’s great prophet and lawgiver. God had given the land to</div><div>the children of Israel to displace the wicked pagan</div><div>worshippers therein because they occupied a strategic place in</div><div>His redemption plan for the world. Their eventual occupation</div><div>of the land was a testimony to the faithfulness of God in</div><div>fulfilling the promise He made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,</div><div>their patriarchs.</div><div>That chosen portion of land that became the possession of the</div><div>Israelites has eternal implication for mankind. It also proves to</div><div>us that once God makes a promise, He always stands by it to</div><div>fulfil it. God can never lie. Fulfilment of His promise may</div><div>sometimes take longer than we anticipated but it will be</div><div>fulfilled in His own appointed time.</div><div>The children of Israel had just eleven days to enter the</div><div>Promised Land, yet Moses kept encouraging them to go in</div><div>and possess the land. Believers should be constantly reminded</div><div>to not only ensure their place in God’s kingdom but also to</div><div>labour to possess the world for Christ by soul-winning. We</div><div>have His promise that every place that the sole of our feet</div><div>shall tread upon, He will give us for a possession. Our</div><div>heavenly Canaan is not too far anymore.
