Nurses are of higher demand than doctors globally, says don
Posted by LESLIEFX on 22 November 2022 at 2:40 amIGBINEDION University lecturer, Prof. Sunday Josiah, yesterday, described nursing as a strong pillar of any nation’s healthcare system, adding that it plays key roles like the physicians.
Josiah, who is the Dean, School of Basic Medical Sciences of the university, said this during the Sixth Professional Oath-taking/Induction of Bachelor of Nursing Science graduates of the institution..
The medical expert said nurses are as key as physicians, as they play unparalleled roles in healthcare delivery. Admonishing them on the need for professionalism, Josiah said the demand for nurses is as high if not higher than the demand for physicians globally. The don hailed the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, for his commitment to excellence and the actualisation of the vision and mission statements of institution to provide quality education.
According to him, the VC has continued to lay a solid rock for the ease of teaching, research and learning in the institution across the faculties to which we, at the school of basic medical sciences, can attest.
Josiah charged the inductees to be steadfast, disciplined, proactive and focused in the discharge of their duty in order to help the world become a better place for all.
“I also laud the proficiency of the provost of the College of Health Sciences for upholding the tenets of discipline and sound academic transactions within the college. Many thanks to our Chief Medical Director for providing opportunity for part of their clinical training in Igbinedion University Hospital, Okada. These students have been considered worthy in character and in learning. They have been fortified with the requisite skills worthy of deployment from their first to the fifth year of training,” Josiah said.
Ezemonye, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raphael Adeghe, said the institution remained committed to academic excellence in all courses of study.
